WEE ANDY WEBBER THE OFFICIAL HISTORY |
|
In the 1950's Dean Park attended primary school in Glasgow with his friend wee Andy.
They remained close friends throughout secondary school and in their teenage years Dean sang and wee Andy played accordion in their Scottish Country Dance Band.
Wee Andy wrote many Scottish songs which Dean sang as they played in clubs and at dances throughout Glasgow and beyond.
As is so often the way, when they were 18 they band split up, wee Andy travelled to London in search of his fortune. That search was in vain as it later turned out Dean had stolen the money and spent it on drink. However, after many years in London wee Andy decided to stop writing Scottish music and concentrate on musicals. Andrew, as he now insisted on being known, re-worked many of his old Scottish tunes and included them in his new shows. Dean's friend from school wee Andy, now better know as Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, has had many hits but in the single Wee Andy Webber's Scottish Medley Dean sings the songs the way his pal from school wee Andy Webber originally wrote and performed them! |
