Joe
has been a household name in Britain for well over a quarter of a century,
starting from his first TV appearance on the hugely popular ‘Junior
Show Time’ in 1970.
In
1987 he came to the attention of the wider public
when he starred in the popular Les Dennis Laughter Show where
he made such a tremendous impact he was asked back for the following
series by huge public demand, which led to him being given his own
show The Joe Longthorne Show.
Joe’s
television series produced such a great demand for live performances
he played to packed houses at theatres across the UK and also at the London Palladium
where he starred alongside Bruce Forsyth, Bob Hope, Shirley Bassey
and Diana Ross. He now also undertakes lengthy national tours
visiting every major venue throughout Britain as well as Summer Season concerts
in Blackpool. Last year’s summer season
at the Blackpool Grand Theatre achieved the largest opening audience
for a summer show at the theatre and set a new Blackpool Grand summer
season record.
Joe
has also had success in America where he has appeared in theatres
and on major television shows and Australia where he has played to ever-increasing
audiences since his debut in 1990. He returned to Australia in May 2001 for another hectic 5 week tour.
He
has recorded many best selling albums, including The Joe Longthorne Songbook which went platinum, and Especially
For You. In addition to his successful recordings, Joe
has also had seven videos released, including Live In Concert,
which topped the video chart in 1994 and A Man and His Music
which reached Number 1 immediately on it’s release.
Joe
has won countless awards for his work over the years but still finds
the most important aspect of his work is entertaining the fans when
he goes on tour.
